Why would I want a security system from a local company rather than a large national company?

 When a company has millions of customers, do you really believe that just one is very important for continued growth and success? Each satisfied customer is vital for our continued growth. WNC Alarm employees actually live in the area that we serve. We want customers to know us by name and vice-versa. You are more than just an account number to us. We not only provide the same high quality equipment, but, typically, don’t have all of the red tape restrictions on how the equipment may or may not be used. Bigger companies do not automatically equate to better products or better service.

Do I own the equipment?

 Yes. The system becomes your personal property and is not proprietary. With the big national companies, you pay a “connection fee” for your security system. You actually do not own it. You can pay anywhere from $99.00 to thousands for the “right” to use their equipment. Read your fine print!

 Do I have to have a phone line to have a security system?

  Not necessarily. Depending on coverage at your home or business, we offer GSM cellular communication as well as Internet communication for the transmission of alarm signals to our monitoring center. Having a basic land-line can enhance some of the options for your security system. Ask for details.

How do I go about requesting service?

 You may call our office at any time to inform us of your service needs. After hour messages are delivered to “on-call” technicians that can return your call at the time that you request. You can also fill out a service request form on our web-site. We strive to complete most service requests within 24 hours of the trouble. Depending on service needs and your system configuration, some service requests can be performed remotely for your convenience.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

 WNC Alarm’s standard monitoring agreement is 36-months. This allows us to offer the lowest monitoring rate possible for our customers. We can alter this in special circumstances if necessary, but it could mean a higher monthly rate. Feel free to inquire regarding this. Unlike most companies, WNC ALARM does not run credit to approve service. We feel that if you are willing to make the investment in protecting your home and family, then you are responsible enough to keep the security active by timely payments.

Do you offer automatic checking or credit card debits for my monitoring service?

Yes. WNC ALARM is happy to offer this service. It is beneficial for all of us. You can enroll or update your payments methods on our website or call our Accounting Department at our local office for.

 Are your technician’s employees or sub-contractors?

 All WNC ALARM personnel are properly state registered employees. We perform criminal background checks and drug testing before employment with WNC ALARM. We encourage you to ask for our (or any security company that you deal with), proper state approved registration id’s. Be very careful in allowing any company to know about your home and family that cannot prove that they are licensed to do so.

  Some of our systems are designed for homeowners, but WNC Alarm also offers other systems designed exclusively for renters.

 What happens if I move?

Good news. Your professionally installed, non-proprietary security system actually raises the value of your home. It is a great selling feature. The new homeowners are not obligated to take over the monitoring of the system, but, we are happy to add them as customers. We will do a complete inspection of the system, change code numbers, words, and demonstrate the system at NO CHARGE. We will consider your agreement with us at that location cancelled upon your moving. If you move within our service area, we would love to assist you in your new home.

Will your system allow me to receive a discount on my home owner’s insurance policy?

Most insurance companies do offer discounts for installing a monitored security system. Our systems do meet the criteria for receiving such discounts if it is offered by your insurance company. We are happy to provide a certificate of installation for your insurance company providing proof of the installation and successful monitoring.

If I supply my own equipment, will you install it for me?

 No. WNC Alarm only installs equipment purchased from us. This eliminates any potential warranty issues that can arise with customer-provided equipment being damaged or not working properly.  All equipment installed by WNC Alarm is completely covered by the manufacturer's warranty and backed by our guarantee of service.

I have an existing system. Can it be monitored by WNC Alarm's Monitoring Service?

 Yes, but, it does depend on the type of equipment and whether or not your current/previous security company has “abandoned” the equipment. WNC ALARM can use “in working order” equipment. If the current equipment is not compatible or functioning properly, we will be happy to give you a quote to fix/upgrade your system for you.
